SQL Sentry Essentials: Powerful Database Performance Monitoring for 5 or Fewer SQL Server Instances
A few weeks ago, we announced that SQL Sentry Essentials was coming soon. Well, "soon" is now. This week, we released version 19.0 of the SentryOne monitoring platform (you can view the release notes here), which includes the new SQL Sentry Essentials edition.
Aaron Bertrand already blogged about the changes that are included in Plan Explorer 19.0, so I won't go into any more detail other than to say that those features are also included in the integrated Plan Explorer in the SentryOne client.
If you've already read the SQL Sentry Essentials FAQ and are eager to purchase this new edition, head to the SQL Sentry Essentials product page, scroll down to the SQL Sentry Essentials Pricing Options section at the bottom, and click the "Buy" button. Have your credit card handy—you'll be directed to our online cart, where you can purchase and download SQL Sentry Essentials immediately. At $50 per month per instance for a subscription, or $995 per instance for a perpetual license, SQL Sentry Essentials is an incredible value. The purchasing process is intended to be simple and direct.
Note that the SQL Sentry trial includes the full feature set—allowing you to evaluate everything SQL Sentry has to offer and choose the edition that's right for you.
Before I talk about the features SQL Sentry Essentials offers, let me talk about who it's for.
SQL Sentry Essentials is intended for smaller organizations that need to monitor 1 to 5 instances. These smaller organizations are often looking for the core monitoring features and don't want to pay for advanced features they aren't using. With that in mind, we crafted this new edition to include only the most essential features and set the price to match. This provides smaller organizations with the best monitoring platform available, at a price that works for them.
SQL Sentry Essentials includes the following features:
- Performance Analysis Dashboard
- Top SQL
- Windows Processes
- Blocking and Deadlock Analysis
- Advisory Conditions and Alerting
These are the features that DBAs find most critical in a database monitoring platform. Based on our telemetry, we know that most of our customers use these features on a daily basis to monitor, diagnose, and optimize their SQL Server performance.
Here's a handy-dandy breakdown of the SentryOne monitoring platform features that are included in SQL Sentry Essentials.
Note that the feature names link to SentryOne Docs, where you can learn more about each feature. Many of the documentation pages include a short 2-minute video covering the feature.
