#SentryOneServes : #GivingTuesdayCLT
Today is Giving Tuesday, and at SentryOne we are taking part in our local #GivingTuesdayCLT by supporting the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation. We partnered with SHARE Charlotte as a Give Good Partner to take part in this annual community fundraising event.
Are you familiar with Giving Tuesday? It started in NYC in 2012 and has been growing in popularity ever since; spreading its message and participation around the world. It always takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (the U.S. Thanksgiving date) and kicks off the spirit of charitable giving for the holiday season.
Charlotte, NC (where SentryOne calls home) had the most successful city-wide Giving Tuesday campaign in the world in 2016. Charlotte has a generous community and the SHARE Charlotte organization to help bring everyone together for the event. We're all hoping for another record-setting day of giving in Charlotte again this year and we're honored to be part of this event. The video below explains what SHARE Charlotte is and how they achieved such a successful #GivingTuesdayCLT last year:
As many of you know, I live in the Portland, Maine area. I decided to support a classroom in rural Maine through DonorsChoose.org which is one of my favorite organizations. The classroom I chose to support in Dexter, Maine is in need of books:
I'm helping this classroom for #GivingTuesday. "Many have never read or heard of Harry Potter, have experienced life outside of Maine…" 😦 Any #sqlfamily want to donate? #WhatsYourGift https://t.co/P671eUY9qI via @donorschoose

In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, I have been encouraging others to support this classroom. If you are able to donate, please consider helping them reach their goal. :-)
As I mentioned above, Giving Tuesday is considered a kick-off to the season of giving. We have some fun plans for making additional contributions to our community next month and look forward to sharing that story with you.
I hope you feel inspired to participate this season and every day. In my opinion (and maybe the opinion of many), giving isn't just about making donations or volunteering. Giving is also about kindness. Every time you practice kindness, you are giving something good to this world.
